No wrong moment.
Only the right one for you.
April and May, and again in October and November, represent the inter-monsoon windows. The ocean is calm, the wind is gentle, and the light favours photography. These are the most reliable months for sailing and diving.
December through March brings the northwest monsoon. The west-facing coasts of Mahé and Praslin can be choppy, but east-facing beaches remain protected. Rainfall is occasional rather than sustained, and the air temperature stays warm. For those basing themselves on a private island or on the eastern coasts, this season presents no meaningful obstacle.
June through September is the southeast trade wind season. The whale shark migration passes through during this period, and those with an interest in marine life will find the diving exceptional. It is also the driest period, well suited to extended time outdoors.
The right season depends entirely on your intended itinerary. We advise based on your priorities.
